Just booted up with a Ubuntu 12 cd, installed, updated and it seems like everything is supported (even the backlit keyboard - wha?!).Īnyway, thought I'd post it in case someone had a doorstop of a mac taking up space. Maybe it doesn't work the GPU as hard as OS X or something. ![]() What ended up solving it? Since she only uses the machine for email and web browsing, I thought I'd toss Ubuntu on it - voila! Haven't had a problem since. I downgraded to Snow Leopard again, then gradually upgraded to different point versions. ![]() It ended up always locking up the display after a while, but I could SSH in and trash the preferences and reboot. I updated to Lion to see if somehow it could be solved with software. It apparently passed (that's BS) and they said it was a software problem. Brought it to the apple store who did their nvidia test. My wife's machine started with a display flickering and had a bunch of display artifacts. So, I figured I'd post this in case anyone had a crapped out 2007 Macbook Pro with the stupid nvidia logic board problem and they can't use the machine anymore (since it's most likely out of the 4 year window that they give you).
